During the agricultural season of 2015-2016, maize production in India showcased remarkable resilience and adaptability. Despite facing several challenges, such as irregular rainfall patterns and pest infestations, Indian farmers demonstrated their ingenuity and determination in maintaining maize yields. By employing innovative farming techniques and leveraging indigenous knowledge, they effectively managed water resources and mitigated the impact of pests on their crops. Furthermore, the collaboration between farmers and agricultural research institutions led to the development of drought-tolerant and pest-resistant maize varieties, allowing for improved productivity even in unfavourable conditions. The government's support through agricultural subsidies and extension services also played a crucial role in bolstering maize production. As a result, India not only met its domestic demand for maize but also achieved surplus production, enabling the country to explore export opportunities. The perseverance and resourcefulness displayed by Indian farmers in the face of adversity set a shining example for sustainable agriculture and food security.
